There’s a Japanese word that sums up this bike perfectly. Subarashii! It means excellent but it carries a bit more impact. Excellent doesn’t quite cut it – this bike is SUBARASHII! When the original CB400 was introduced in 1992 it was a good bike. Upon the introduction of the now legendary Vtech engine system in 1999 it moved to a whole new level. The trick was in the disabling of one pair of intake and exhaust below 6,750rpm giving improved power and efficiency and low revs. Other tweaks were made making the bike shorter, lighter and lower giving all round greatly improved performance.
In 2002, the year our bike came out, for the Spec II further changes were made so the VTEC cleverness kicked in up to 6,300 revs. An upgraded ignition timing map was added as well as the HISS security system. One or two other tweaks helped to reduce weight further.
Basically, this is one hell of a machine. Ours is in really nice condition. It is important that I highlight any imperfections on our bikes so I will do so now but I should say they are all very small things. There are three tiny dents in the tank which I’ve tried to highlight in the video – they really are very small; there’s a minute hole in the seat; there are a few small scratches. Other than that, she is close to perfect.
In terms of running, she pulls away very fast. The acceleration is excellent as is the stopping, and she sounds amazing. You’ve got to try it!
We would love to show you this incredible machine in person but where distance is an issue we can arrange a virtual tour by video phone.
This bike has been through the NOVA system. We can arrange registration and delivery. Registration is a 3-step process: obtain a dating certificate from a DVLA accredited dating officer; MOT; registration with DVLA. This costs £150.
Payment can be made through direct debit or debit/credit card. FINANCE AVAILABLE.
